Happy Tuesday lovelies! Here to spread more joy today we have the lovely wedding of Alison and Brock who tied the knot on August 15, 2015. Alison and Brock’s wedding is the quintessential depiction of traditional romance. By utilizing the expertise of great, experienced vendors, like the team at their venue Glenbrook Park and Amenities Centre in New Westminster and Hayley Rae Photography, they can be seen worry-free in all smiles on their special day! Using the charming natural outdoor décor of the park made for perfectly-picturesque images captured by Hayley Rae Photography, with the delicate, feminine blush bridesmaids and navy hues of the wedding party standing out in a field of green.
The bride explains that for her, the day was all about traditional values – the significance of tying the knot with her soulmate, spending time with family and friends, and having fun over a few drinks. They even added a few traditions to their family’s book: playing lawn games and even digging up a bottle of bourbon they had buried a year previously in the gardens at the park to share a shot with all the guests!
Mismatched seating – chairs and sofas gave the ceremony setting such a playful, eclectic feel. We love this idea!
The Bourbon! Alison and Brock buried a bottle of bourbon in the garden at the ceremony one year before the wedding day. After the ceremony they dug it up and had a shot with the wedding party!
Blush bridesmaids are always in style!
After the sweet outdoor ceremony, guests dined, danced and even played bean bag toss and other lawn games.
Tell us a little bit about your wedding planning experience...
The wedding planning experiences was both tons of fun and stressful. Pinterest was a lot of help, but having great vendors who had experience and great advice was the most helpful during the planning process.
What were the most memorable moments on your wedding day?
There are too many to list! But, if we had to narrow it down, the vows, speeches and dancing were the most memorable parts.
What were some of your favourite things about your wedding?
Well, officially tying the knot has the to be number one. But, having so many friends and family gathered all in the same place, having fun, was one of the highlights. We had lawn games, good music, yummy food, and flowing drinks, which helped create a great party. And of course, the décor and flowers made it feel extra magical.
Any advice!? If you could do the day over again, would you change anything?
We wouldn’t change a thing! Don’t get us wrong, some things definitely went wrong, but the best advice we were given was not to let the little things bother you. Someone said to pick a time frame, either 24 or 48 hours before the wedding, whatever you are comfortable with, and once you were in that time frame, stop worrying. You’ve done all your planning and hard work, start enjoying it. Especially on the day. It’s guaranteed that at least one thing isn’t going to go according to plan, but it’s only going to ruin your day if you let it. Instead of focusing on little hiccups, stop and appreciate what’s happening, take mental pictures when something special happens. Also, make sure your vendors know who your “go to” person is. When something does need to be addressed, have your bridesmaids or groomsman fix it!
