It’s not very often that you see engineering blueprints as the point of departure for a wedding theme, so we had to share this one with you! Oh-so-clever and beautifully-executed, this wedding stylized shoot from photographer Gideon Photo has married the typically masculine visual of engineering blueprints with the typically feminine elegance of wedding design. How is that possible? You’ll have to see it for yourself.
The only place the theme is obvious is in the invitations, which are made to look like blueprints within a wood-grain patterned envelope. Even the place cards look like cross cut slices from a tree – age rings and all. But there, the engineering theme becomes less overt. Only the colour blue remains as a tie-in, and boy is it absolutely gorgeous popping out in the décor behind all the subtle earth tones! They used a brown wood table and chairs with rich blue table runner and seats, decorated with loads of copper accents in the dishware, candlesticks and flower urn. More accents of blue come from vibrant blue glasses and dish chargers. The floral arrangements include a variety of beautiful rusty-brown and crème flowers – it’s really striking to see such natural-tone flowers for a change! Set in a courtyard full of stone and ivy, the colour scheme is just really rich and easy on the eye, making the blue pop even more vibrantly.
I’ve been so obsessed with the décor and colour scheme here that I haven’t even gotten to the bride, who is so simply elegant in a stark white dress, loose-flowy hair, and a huge bouquet of the same earth-tone flowers. Classic and totally chic, but with an effortless quality that there’s just something about… And be sure to notice how the crisp, clean white cake that’s decorated with the same flowers looks like a miniature version of the bride herself! I love this wedding, and I would have never thought a theme like engineering blueprints would lead to such a gorgeous design. It’s why we feature stylized shoots like this – you never know how an unusual wedding theme can inspire a stunning affair!
